Joe Stydahar, Tackle, 1936-1942; '45-'46
Joe StydaharFirst player ever drafted by the Bears, in a draft class that also brought fellow future Hall-of-Famer Danny Fortmann in the ninth round. Played college football at West Virginia University. Fought in World War II but returned to the Bears in 1945. Played left tackle. Later coached for the Rams and Cardinals. Elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967. Died in 1977 at age 65.
